Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information GetFileTools ("we", "us") collects when you use getfiletools.com, how we use it and the choices you have. We designed the service to collect as little as possible. Last updated: 31 October 2026.

1. Your files

  • Tools marked "Runs in your browser" process your file on your own device. The file is never uploaded to us.
  • Tools that run on our server upload your file over an encrypted connection and process it in a private folder. The result is deleted automatically after 2 hours. You can delete it sooner from the result page or your dashboard.
  • We do not read your documents, share them, sell them or use them to train AI systems.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and a password, which we store only as a secure hash. An account is optional for the free tools.
  • Job records: the tool used, file name, file size, time and status, so we can show your history in your dashboard and apply fair daily limits.
  • Technical data: a hashed form of your IP address, used to apply usage limits and protect the service from abuse, plus basic server logs.
  • Messages and subscriptions: your name, email and message if you use the contact form, and your email address if you join our email list.
  • Payments: if you buy a plan, payments are handled by our payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal) or by manual payment. We keep the plan, amount, status and payment reference. We never see or store your full card number.

3. How we use information

  • To run the tools and deliver your results.
  • To create and secure your account, keep you signed in and manage your plan.
  • To send service emails such as sign-up confirmation, password reset, contact replies and payment confirmation.
  • To send product news only if you subscribed. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.
  • To prevent abuse, fix problems and improve the service.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. Details are in our Cookie Policy. If we enable Google Analytics, it helps us understand how the site is used. If we show advertising, such as Google AdSense, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised advertising in your Google Ads Settings, and where required we ask for your choice before loading ads.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run GetFileTools, such as hosting, email delivery, payment processing, analytics and advertising partners, and only as needed for their service. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users and service.

6. How long we keep information

Processed files are deleted automatically after 2 hours. Account details and job records are kept while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.

7. Security

We use encrypted connections, private storage for uploaded files, hashed passwords and access controls. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep copies of your important files and use a strong, unique password.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and you can close your account at any time. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message. To make a request, email [email protected] or use our contact page.

9. Children

GetFileTools is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

10. International use

Our servers and service providers may be located in a different country from you. By using the service you understand that your information may be processed there.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Continued use of the service means you accept the updated policy.
